1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using EaseFi ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you disagree with any part of these terms, you may not access the Service.

2. Description of Service

EaseFi is an AI-powered personal budgeting application available on iOS and Web that helps you:

  • Connect and sync bank accounts via Plaid (12,000+ institutions)
  • Track transactions and spending patterns with AI-powered categorization
  • Create multi-cadence budgets (daily, weekly, monthly, yearly) and savings goals
  • Get personalized AI coaching and financial guidance
  • Scan receipts with AI for automatic expense tracking
  • Share budgets with household members
  • Detect and track recurring bills and subscriptions
  • Generate spending insights, analytics, and budget health scores

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 18 years old to use this Service. By using EaseFi, you represent and warrant that you meet this age requirement and have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms.

4. Account Registration

When creating an account, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate, current, and complete information
  • Maintain and update your information to keep it accurate
  • Maintain the security of your password
  • Accept responsibility for all activities under your account
  • Notify us immediately of any unauthorized access

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms or provide false information.

5. Bank Account Connections

By connecting your bank accounts via Plaid, you:

  • Grant us read-only access to your financial data
  • Acknowledge that we do not store your bank credentials
  • Understand that you can disconnect accounts at any time
  • Agree to Plaid's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy
  • Accept that account syncing depends on your financial institution's availability

Important: We never have the ability to move money, initiate payments, or access your bank credentials.

6. Household Sharing

EaseFi allows you to share budgets with household members. When using household sharing:

  • You are responsible for all activity within your household group
  • You should only invite trusted individuals you live with
  • Shared data is visible to all household members you invite
  • Each member must have their own EaseFi account
  • You can remove household members or leave a household at any time
  • We are not responsible for disputes between household members

7. Acceptable Use

You agree NOT to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the Service
  • Upload viruses or malicious code
  • Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service's operation
  • Impersonate another person or entity
  • Share your login credentials with others (use household sharing instead)
  • Upload inappropriate or offensive content (including in receipts or notes)

8. Intellectual Property

The Service, including its original content, features, and functionality, is owned by EaseFi and protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

Your Data: You retain all rights to your financial data. We claim no ownership of your personal information or transaction data.

Our Rights: The EaseFi logo, design, software code, and documentation are our exclusive property.

9. Privacy and Data Security

Your privacy is important to us. Our collection and use of personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

10. Fees and Payments

Free Tier: Core financial management features are provided free of charge, including multi-cadence budgets, transaction tracking, bank account syncing, spending analytics, and basic AI insights.

Premium Features: We may offer advanced premium features for a subscription fee, including enhanced AI coaching, unlimited receipt scanning, advanced spending predictions, household sharing, priority support, and premium analytics. Pricing will be clearly communicated before purchase.

  • Subscriptions auto-renew unless canceled
  • Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing period
  • No refunds for partial months
  • We reserve the right to change pricing with 30 days' notice

11. Disclaimers and Limitations

Financial Advice Disclaimer

EaseFi is a budgeting tool, NOT a financial advisor. We do not provide financial, investment, tax, or legal advice. All financial decisions are your sole responsibility. Consult a qualified financial professional for personalized advice.

Service Provided "AS IS"

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including:

  • Merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose
  • Accuracy, reliability, or completeness of data
  • Uninterrupted or error-free operation
  • Security from unauthorized access

Data Accuracy

While we strive for accuracy, we do not guarantee that:

  • Transaction data from your bank is always current or correct
  • AI-powered auto-categorization is 100% accurate
  • Receipt scanning and OCR results are completely error-free
  • Recurring bill detection identifies all subscriptions
  • Spending calculations and AI insights are error-free

You should verify important financial information with your bank statements.

AI Features Disclaimer

Our AI features (coaching, categorization, receipt scanning, insights) use machine learning and may not always be accurate. AI responses are generated automatically and should not be considered professional financial advice. Always verify AI-generated information and consult qualified professionals for important financial decisions.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, EASEFI SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR:

  • Indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages
  • Loss of profits, revenue, data, or use
  • Business interruption or financial losses
  • Errors in transaction categorization or budget calculations
  • Unauthorized access to your account (unless due to our gross negligence)

Our total liability shall not exceed the fees you paid us in the past 12 months, or $100 if using the free tier.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless EaseFi, its affiliates, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

  • Your use of the Service
  • Your violation of these Terms
  • Your violation of any third-party rights
  • Any unauthorized access to your account

14. Termination

Your Right: You may close your account at any time through Settings.

Our Right: We may suspend or terminate your account if you:

  • Violate these Terms
  • Engage in fraudulent or illegal activity
  • Abuse or misuse the Service
  • Fail to pay fees (for premium users)

Upon termination, your access ends immediately. We will delete your data within 30 days unless required to retain it by law.

15. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify you of material changes via email or in-app notification at least 30 days before they take effect. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

16. Service Availability

We strive for 99.9% uptime but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. The Service may be unavailable during:

  • Scheduled maintenance (we'll notify you in advance)
  • Emergency repairs or security updates
  • Third-party service outages (Plaid, hosting providers)
  • Force majeure events beyond our control

17. Governing Law and Disputes

Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States and the State of California, without regard to conflict of law provisions.

Dispute Resolution: Before filing a claim, you agree to try to resolve the dispute informally by contacting us at support@easefi.ai.

Arbitration: Any unresolved disputes shall be settled through binding arbitration in accordance with the American Arbitration Association rules.

Class Action Waiver: You agree to resolve disputes individually, not as part of a class action.

18. Third-Party Services

Our Service integrates with third-party providers:

  • Plaid: Bank account connections and transaction data (subject to Plaid's terms)
  • Supabase: Database, authentication, and data storage services
  • OpenAI: AI-powered coaching, receipt OCR, spending insights, and transaction categorization
  • Vercel: Cloud infrastructure and application hosting

We are not responsible for third-party services or their terms. You should review their policies independently.

19. Export Compliance

You may not use or export the Service in violation of U.S. export laws and regulations. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to U.S. embargo or designated as a "terrorist supporting" country.

20. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable or invalid, that provision will be limited or eliminated to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.

21. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and EaseFi regarding the Service and supersede all prior agreements.
